How to Win a Bidding War

If you found the right home for you—along with several other interested buyers, there may be ways to win the bidding war without making the highest offer.

“You need to consider the things that might be important to the seller outside of how much they want for the home,” said New American Funding Marketing Manager Shanta Patton-Golar.

This can be offering the seller a fast close or giving them more time in the home. You may also be able to offer to make a larger earnest money deposit.

However, those tactics won’t sway every seller. You may have to walk away from a bidding war if making a higher offer puts the home out of your price range.
