Buying a Home with a USDA Loan

Would you like to buy a home without a down payment? It’s a real possibility for many buyers.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA loans) offer 100% financing, meaning the homebuyer would not have to provide a down payment.

Despite the misconception that the loans are only available for remote locations, you may be able to use a USDA loan to buy a home in the suburbs.

“Be careful of thinking that your area is not USDA-eligible, because some of these places are right outside of major cities,” said Ken Smith, a sales manager at New American Funding based in Evans, Ga. “So, be sure to look on the website and talk with your loan advisor and they’ll be able to see if they can find a home in that footprint for you.”
