"I was helping my mother-in-law ascertain a home equity loan as she is older and weary of internet based lending institutions.  I had found NAF online and called.  After speaking with Chris Nuckols for a few minutes and explaining the situation and concerns, I felt a level of comfort to proceed and promptly had Carol join the conference call to move forward.  Chris made the initial screening and onboarding as smooth as could be (LTV, DTI, Credit, etc.all looked great).  She was also heading to Italy the next week for 10 days and authorized me to deal with any other questions or documentation that needed to be furnished moving forward.  Chris explained that once they had everything needed it would typically take inside of 30 days to wrap everything up.  This process started in mid-March.  Chris was fantastic and walked Carol through the process and she commented on how great he was.  Documentation was sent over and we were off to Underwriting. This is when thing seemed to go off the rails and get complicated.  Around April 7th, we were initially placed with Sam Guillen as our processing floater.  Really nice guy, tough to get ahold of.  It was an exercise in patience, he would request the same documentation multiple times.  After sending it in he would request it again a few days later.  I had initially asked for a punch list of what he needed, only to furnish it and be told \"we were good\", or then have more information requested multiple times. After a couple of weeks of stagnation and then after reaching out to Chris the file was transferred to Tammy Vuong around May 6th.  Tammy was super nice and as sweet as could be, but alas, was also afflicted by the repetition curse.  We were asked for the same documentation multiple times, would provide it and be asked again a few days later.  There were times that we were told that \"everything looked great” and that “we should be closing early next week”.  Specifically, on one occasion, we were told to expect to close on either Friday 5/24 or Saturday 5/25.  Carol cleared her schedule and canceled her plans only for neither of us to hear another update until after the weekend.  When it was all said and done the loan settled on 5/29 after much turmoil and turbulence and two and half months of waiting. All told, dealing with NAF was a mixed bag.  Chris Nuckols was outstanding in his performance, super personable and extremely knowledgeable.  So the intake, sales side was awesome.  On the other hand, the loan processing side had much to be desired.  It was like the gang that couldn’t shoot straight.  Both Sam Guillien and Tammy Vuong were nice, polite, and professional in their interactions but did not inspire confidence that things were moving along with efficiency.  Was it them, or a senior underwriter behind a curtain farther up the chain, we will never know, but it did create a lot of stress. In light of said stress for Carol I would respectfully request reimbursement of the application fee she was charged and an overture of good faith.  I believe this would be within reason for her troubles.
