Patty Arvielo is a self-made entrepreneur with more than 40 years of experience in the mortgage industry. She co-founded and leads the nation’s largest woman- and Latina-owned mortgage company, New American Funding. Arvielo manages the company’s operations and sales, while overseeing 285 locations and more than 5,178 employees nationwide. She also oversaw the creation and expansion of the company’s retail lending operation, which grew a small local operation to a national powerhouse with thousands of employees across the country.
Arvielo has been named to the Forbes 50 Over 50 list, which honors women for their “historic achievements and barrier-breaking success after 50.” Arvielo has been repeatedly honored for her leadership by Profiles in Diversity Journal, was inducted into the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Hall of Fame, named one of Most Powerful Women in Mortgage by Mortgage Banker Magazine, and recognized as Executive of the Year by multiple industry publications. She also made Inc.’s 2025 Female Founders 500 List and now serves as an Advisory Board member.
Over the course of her career, Arvielo learned of the hurdles diverse borrowers face when trying to achieve the American dream of homeownership. As a result, she became driven to find ways to educate underrepresented homebuyers about buying a home. In that spirit, she established NAF Promise, an initiative focused on tackling mortgage industry inequities through dedicated programs serving underrepresented communities.
Arvielo is a national voice on lending to diverse communities, frequently advising federal and state lawmakers, federal and state regulators, governmental agencies, other large lenders, and much more on this critically important issue.
Patty's natural leadership qualities have led her to champion her team and give back as a mentor to help her employees grow their skill sets and careers. Her quarterly mentorship program, "Thrive and Lead," provides industry professionals intensive mentoring.
She also established the company’s "If You Want to Grow, We Want to Know" mentorship program, which allows employees to openly share their goals and aspirations with Arvielo and the company’s senior leaders for potential advancement in the company. Additionally, Patty and New American Funding rolled out the "360 Mentorship Program," which matches an internal leader with another employee who is pursuing career advancement. The program serves as an opportunity for the mentor to share their knowledge, aid in the mentee’s professional development, and help the mentee develop the skills needed to work towards and pursue advanced career goals.
She lends her expertise and influence in the industry to numerous committees, including the Mortgage Bankers Association Residential Board of Governors and the Homeownership Council of America Advisory Board. She is a former member of the MBA Affordable Homeownership Advisory Council, Fannie Mae Affordable Housing Advisory Council, and both Freddie Mac's Community Lender Advisory Board and Affordable Housing Council. She also served as a member of the Housing Counseling Federal Advisory Committee, a group that advises the Department of Housing and Urban Development on ways to build sustainable homeownership.
Outside the office and into the community, Arvielo is serving a three-year term on the Harvard Kennedy School Board. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Latino Donor Collaborative and for Century Communities, and is a Board Member of Carson Life.
